School learners from as far as Midrand, accompanied by learners from the neighbouring suburb of Roshnee Played a pivotal role in fund raising as well as distributiion for this project. The schools involved were Nizamiye School, Roshnee Islamic School and the iTutor group.
While the effort saw a rallying together of adults and elderly members of the Community, the overwhelming presence of these school kids was noteworthy. Both the Purple Bandage team and the recipients of the blankets marvelled at the enthusiasm and dedication of the kids ranging from 5 to 17. They also handed out boxes of fruit and drinks to the recipients.
While the teens displayed organisational skills in systematically distributing the bl;ankets , teh younger kids delighted pensioners with their dedication in handing out boxes of fruit and drinks to them.
The team clearly “warmed bodies” and “won hearts” . It is hoped that we layed a foundation, and ignited a spark within the youth for social upliftment” Such were the sentiments of the groups CEO , Mohammed Ravat and his team. Truly the greatest gift is in giving.
