A Second Chance - Purple Bandage Supports Inmates

Capture

A recent visit to the prison was nothing short of life changing, not only for us, the Purple Bandage Team as visitors, but for the prisoners themselves. Purple Bandage representatives were part of a team including the Department of Correctional Services and other interested parties, who met with interacted with inmates. We often pondered about these inmates and wondered what life behind bars means; perhaps  a life sentence or maybe a new chapter? The visit was intended to allow members of the community to interact with these inmates and provide them with a learning experience from the outside . The inmates especially enjoyed little snack packs provided by the Purple Banadage team as well as lunch.

The outcome was phenomenal and the event was a sucess. It was a dawah opportunity which brought about many dialogues amongst the visitors and the inmates. A light lunch was provided for over a hundred people courtesy of Purple Bandage sponsors.

These turned out to be fruitful as the inmates appreciated our team reaching out to them . This initiative is planned to be a yearly event in which members of the community will join the Purple Bandage team and on this endeavor. We need to reach out to all sectors of our community in order to build a strong network of co-operation and understanding, because this is indeed the foundation of sucessful societies.
